In just over 3 weeks I’ll be heading off to London, England for my debut at English National Opera as Achilla in Julius Caesar. I’ve been having such a great time going through the score over and over again. I’m doing my best to appreciate the excitement I feel about this debut at ENO; It’s not a feeling that I’ll soon forget. The mere fact that this is happening seems so surreal to me. Five years ago if you had told me that I would actually be doing this, I’d be VERY skeptical to say the least. Seven years ago I would have laughed all the way home! Things have happened so fast and in such a wonderful way. I really could not have asked for better journey than the one that has brought me here today.
Julius Caesar is a wonderful work that I’ve had the pleasure of working on in the past, and I’m anxious to see what we’ll be doing with it at ENO. It will feature Lawrence Zazzo, ‘the king of countertenors’ (Financial Times), as Caesar and Anna Christy – 2010’s ‘mesmerising’ (The Times) Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor – as Cleopatra. This new production will be conducted by Baroque expert Christian Curnyn, who led ENO’s 2011 production of Castor and Pollux. The innovative Michael Keegan-Dolan directs the production. Michael returns to ENO with Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, following their 2009 Olivier Award-nominated staging of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
More soon, but for now, back to work! I have so much to do, I am hoping to launch my website before I leave for London!
